Job Opportunity: Nursery Registered Nurse

Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Nursery)
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-Call: Not required currently, but may change based on unit needs
• Floating: May float within the women's area of the facility as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of nursery nursing experience, with nursery experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel assignment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Schedule & Work Conditions

• Facility may approve block scheduling upon manager’s request and unit needs
• Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis
• Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
• Local radius: 60 miles

Facility Information

• Acute Care Hospital with 286 staffed beds
• Level III Trauma Center
• Charting system: Epic
• Scrub color: Royal Blue
• During hurricane season (June-November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid Driver’s License and Social Security Card
• Completed and accurate I-9 form with E-Verify attestation
• Annual background check covering all places lived/worked in the last 7 years, including:

  • SSN Trace
  • Statewide and national criminal checks
  • Sex offender registry
  • FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
• Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
• OFAC Sanctions List search prior to start
• South Carolina Medicaid Excluded Providers search (for sub vendors)
• NURSYS license verification (active, unencumbered, no pending actions)
• Color blindness test prior to start
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Competency exam required
• Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet job demands
• Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
• Drug screen: 10-panel urine test within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
  • Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest x-ray if prior positive
  • Annual TB questionnaire
• Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31) with documentation uploaded before deadline
• COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form

Orientation & Facility Specific Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (4-6 hours) prior to start; failure to complete results in being sent home
• First Day Instructions (FDI) provided after clearance
• Passport-style badge photo required before start (frontal view, solid light background, business casual attire)
• Signed agency job description required before start

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not accepted for first-time travelers; first-timers are not accepted for this role
• Charge nurse experience is preferred but not mandatory
• Floating may be required within the women’s services area
• Radiation badge is not required for this position
• Facility allows a 1-shift call-off every 2 weeks
