Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel RN assignment in Evansville, Indiana
• 13-week contract
• Nights: 12-hour shifts, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
• Primary location: Midtown
• 41-bed unit

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Trauma experience
• Experience with Epic
• Initiate/titrate drips (antiarrhythmics, Heparin, amino, etc.)
• PIV insertion
• Chest tube/indwelling drain management
• CBI
• Antidysrhythmic (cardizem, tikosyn dosing, amio)
• Nephrostomy tubes

Preferred

• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Hard worker, resilient, manages change well, and social

Unit Details

• Cardiac Renal Unit
• High-acuity Tele/M/S with cardiac-heavy patients
• Patient mix includes Afib with RVR, Afib, flutter, blocks, heart cath without interventions, CHF, COPD, sepsis, BH/CIWA, post ablations, and dialysis
• Skills used on the unit include Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation, drip titration, PIV insertion, chest tube/indwelling drain management, CBI, stable drips, antidysrhythmic management, and nephrostomy tubes

Schedule and Float

• Guaranteed 36 hours per week; may accept 48 hours upon request
• Three weekends out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday
• First to float within skillset
• May float to Deaconess Newburgh campus and potentially to Deaconess Henderson
• Mid-shift float within the same campus may occur

Additional Notes

• Clinical interview required
• Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires
• No local candidates within 40 miles
• Scrubs must not have competing health system or agency logos
