Job Description

• Position: Registered Nurse in the Oncology Care Unit
• Guaranteed Hours: 84 hours biweekly (overtime paid after 84 hours worked in the second week)
• Shift Requirements: 12-hour night shifts
• Weekend/Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend and holiday
• Float Requirements: Will float as needed to other areas and care for patients within scope

Qualifications

• Required Certifications:

  • Wisconsin RN License
  • BLS Certification
  • Chemotherapy certification (required)
• Minimum Experience:

  • 2+ years of nursing experience
  • 1 year on a Medical-Surgical Oncology unit preferred
  • Oncology experience required
• Charting Experience:

  • Epic preferred; if no Epic experience, previous electronic charting experience is necessary
• Equipment Used:

  • Epic EMR
  • Rovers for medication scanning
  • Alaris pumps

Unit Specifics

• Patient Population: Primarily surgical oncology and medical oncology patients, with a small population receiving chemotherapy treatments.
• Patient Ratio:

  • Day and PM shifts: 4:1 or 5:1
  • Night shift: Typically 5:1, can go up to 7:1 (not common)
• Support Staff: Night shift will always have techs available; C.NAs are scheduled for all shifts but may staff more RNs when C.NAs are not available.

• Radius Rule: Contractors must be outside a 50-mile radius of Aspirus Wausau.
• Scrub Color: Any color
• Orientation: GSA hours are not guaranteed during the week of orientation; travelers are guaranteed set hours per week, except during holidays when the unit is closed.
