Registered Nurse – Critical Care Unit (CCU)

Location: Duluth, Minnesota

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour variable shifts (day and night) on a weekly rotation
• Hours per Week: Guaranteed 36 hours (may include up to 36 low census unbillable hours)
• Weekend/Holiday Requirements: Work 2 out of every 4 weekends and every other holiday
• Float Requirements: Float between critical care units; possible float to lower acuity units based on census and need
• On Call/Call Back: May be placed on call during low census; call back minimum is 2 hours
• Charting System: Epic preferred

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Minnesota
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
• ICU experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS
• NIHSS

Job Responsibilities

• Assess and identify patient conditions; communicate deviations from normal to healthcare team
• Identify patient and family educational needs and priorities
• Initiate discharge planning and ensure appropriate follow-up
• Provide age-appropriate care based on clinical environment
• Oversee care of stroke and/or cardiac patients, ensuring Core Measures compliance unless contraindicated
• Recognize and report signs of abuse per policy
• Participate in purposeful nursing rounds incorporating the 7 Ps of rounding
• Recognize and report abnormal diagnostic data
• Select appropriate supplies and utilize PAR system
• Manage independently, complete tasks timely, and adapt well to change
