Job Summary

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process.
• Responsible for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating care for assigned patients.
• Deliver care based on established nursing standards, hospital policies, and multidisciplinary practices.
• Diagnose and treat human responses to actual and potential health problems through case finding, health teaching, counseling, and supportive/restorative care.
• Supervise care provided by LPNs, RNs on permit, nursing attendants, technicians, and supplemental staff.
• Assess immediate and ongoing care needs of patients and significant others.
• Develop comprehensive care plans including physical, teaching, discharge planning, and psychosocial/spiritual needs.
• Oversee all aspects of patient care and ensure nursing interventions align with medical regimens.
• Observe, evaluate, document, and communicate patient responses to illness and treatments.
• Coordinate care priorities with the multidisciplinary team and ensure timely follow-up.
• Integrate age-specific care needs, particularly pediatrics, into care plans.
• Accept accountability for nursing interventions and outcomes.
• Participate in quality improvement activities related to patient care.
• Communicate effectively, manage stressful situations, and facilitate interdisciplinary relationships.
• Participate in orientation of nursing staff and assume charge responsibilities as delegated.
• Ensure appropriate patient coverage and assist on other units as needed.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff.
• Serve as a clinical resource for student nurses.
• Engage in meetings, committees, educational programs, research, and pilot projects.
• Commit to continuing professional growth and education, including pursuing higher degrees and certifications.
• Participate in professional and community organizations.

Required Skills & Experience

• Pediatric nursing experience (acute care or long-term care).
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems and relevant healthcare/billing systems.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Education & Licensure

• Required: Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), valid Nursing License in New York.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks
