Job Description

Seeking a Registered Nurse for an acute hospital setting to provide autonomous care alongside hospital staff. The role focuses on acute hemodialysis for in-patients with chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury (AKI), and transplant patients. Dialysis experience is not required but preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 or 2:1 acute hemodialysis patient care.
• Educate patients and families on treatment and care.
• Provide specialized care for patients with multiple co-morbidities and acute conditions.
• Administer nephrology care across various renal therapies including peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement, and apheresis.
• Work autonomously in a hospital setting, assessing and troubleshooting critical patient needs daily.
• Adapt to variable daily schedules with long days and on-call requirements.
• Potential to float to various clinics during and after training.
• Must be flexible to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of recent (within last 2 years) acute dialysis experience.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with mandatory overtime.
• Ability to work long days without prior notice.
• Ability to travel to multiple hospitals within the area.
• Experience assessing, troubleshooting, and making sound clinical decisions in stressful situations.
• Physical ability to push/pull large hemodialysis machines with little or no assistance.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word and Outlook.
• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

• Hemodialysis nursing experience in acute or chronic settings.
• Experience in Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg), ICU, CCU, or Emergency Room (ER).
• Certified Hemodialysis Nurse (CHN) certification.

• Schedule varies by hospital system; weekly schedule known in advance but daily schedule may change based on patient needs.
• Must be within commutable distance for on-call requirements.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this role.
