Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Registered Nurse, Direct Care
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Stepdown/PCU
Hours: 10 hours/day, 40 hours/week

Job Description

Provide nursing care to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex under general supervision.
Manage an assigned group of patients, documenting responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments.
Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
Obtain and monitor physiological data; observe patient conditions and intervene as necessary.
Administer prescribed medications, regulate and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
Deliver competent patient care and communicate care plans to patients and families during hospitalization and discharge.
Inform patients and families about hospital procedures.
Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
Delegate tasks to support staff as needed.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Oklahoma
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in Cardiac Cath Lab
Minimum 1 year of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience within the last year
Stepdown experience
PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience
One completed travel assignment
Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
ARRT certification

Pros

Very nice hospital, I like the fact that I never have to put in orders or sign any consent form. The doctors do all this. There is a lot of hours. On the clinical side, there is a lot to learn. On my unit I got to see so many surgical cases that I never seen in my entire career only because I was on a surgical unit.

Cons

It all depends on the team you are working with. They either break you or make you.
