Administrative Nurse Coordinator
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Shift: Nights (12 AM – 8 AM) with flexibility to cover days and weekends as needed
Contract Length: Approximately 14 weeks
Position Summary
- Coordinate nursing services during evening and night shifts.
- Ensure adherence to nursing practice standards and patient care protocols.
- Apply management theory, labor relations knowledge, and hospital policies independently.
- Promote career development and professional growth of nursing staff.
- Communicate organizational information promptly to staff.
- Empower employees with authority and resources to take action.
- Foster teamwork and positive relationships among staff, patients, and visitors.
- Participate in educational programs, workshops, and interdisciplinary meetings.
- Utilize nursing research and evidence-based practices to drive quality improvements.
- Oversee unit operations in collaboration with leadership.
- Conduct rounds to evaluate compliance with standards and provide support and coaching.
- Assess and document patient safety measures including restraints, observation, falls, and risks.
- Investigate and resolve complaints, incidents, and problems.
- Manage staffing for current and upcoming shifts.
- Monitor hospital codes response and documentation.
- Ensure nursing philosophy, ethical standards, and scope of service are met.
- Address conflicts constructively and maintain effective communication.
- Report patient safety and pertinent shift issues for follow-up.
- Establish and monitor customer service improvement goals focused on patient satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience, preferably in healthcare.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to produce trend analysis and evaluation documentation.
- Knowledge of quality improvement models, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), and Root Cause Analysis.
- Effective team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated competency in clinical specialty relevant to the role.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Competence in leadership and administrative functions.
- Ability to see, hear, read, and write English.
