Job Opportunity: PET/CT Technologist
Location: Merced, California
Employment Type: Contract Clinician
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Job Summary
As a PET/CT Technologist, you will use exceptional communication skills to connect with patients, explain procedures, and ensure their comfort and safety. You will produce high-quality PET/CT images to assist physicians in accurate diagnosis and treatment. The role requires flexibility to work in various settings including outpatient centers, mobile coaches, or hospital-based facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure patient safety, including pre-screening for contraindications and aseptic injection technique.
- Adhere to radiation safety regulations and proper documentation when handling radioactive materials/patients.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic PET/CT images.
- Communicate effectively with customers and radiologists.
- Train new technologists and/or patient care staff.
- Troubleshoot scanner, mobile coach, and peripheral equipment (monitors, PACS, coils, etc.).
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (required); Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience (preferred).
- NMTCB or ARRT (N) certification.
- CNMT California License for Nuclear Medicine (required to perform PET/CT imaging in California).
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- 1-2 years of PET/PETCT imaging experience with adequate training in Nuclear Medicine procedures and studies.
- Valid state driver’s license (as applicable).
- Local travel may be required.
Notes
- CT license is not required as CT is used only for attenuation correction.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
