Registered Nurse – Cardiac Services
Location: Soldotna, Alaska
Employment Type: Contract Clinician
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Summary
Provide nursing care in the Cardiac Cath Lab Services, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care during shifts. Responsibilities include managing personnel, supplies, and equipment, promoting teamwork with physicians and other departments, and performing circulate, scrub, and hemodynamic monitoring duties during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and radiology procedures. Care includes pre-, intra-, and post-procedural assessment and patient instruction, including moderate sedation cases.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a school of nursing
- Minimum of 4 years nursing experience in cardiac cath and interventional radiology (preferred; minimum 2 years required)
- Experience with patients undergoing moderate sedation
- Current Alaska Registered Nurse license
- CPR certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- ACLS certification through AHA upon hire
- PALS or ENPC certification through AHA within 6 months of hire
- Clinical competence in:
- Basic cardiac physiology/pathology
- 12-Lead EKG interpretation
- Physiologic monitoring (including intracardiac pressure waveform knowledge)
- Pacemaker operations (implantable and external)
- Use of radiographic equipment as assigned
- Experience with EPIC charting preferred
Schedule & Work Environment
- Five 8-hour shifts per 7-day work week
- Call required (details to be determined based on staffing)
- Some weekends may be required
- New service line with 4-6 beds in the unit
- Dress code: Scrubs
- Orientation includes service partner orientation on first day plus department-specific training
Additional Information
- This is a new service line with anticipated start-up in mid-October; hiring expected by mid-August to early September for training
- Floating to other units not identified at this time
