ICU Nurse - Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Maryland

Position Details

Employment Type: Contract Clinician
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit: ICU (8 beds)
Shift: 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays, no on-call
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3
Dress Code: Navy scrubs

Patient Population & Job Duties

Care for patients with diagnoses including:
- ARDS
- Craniotomy
- Pneumonia
- Hypothermia
- Trauma
- Sepsis
- STEMI
General critical care nursing skills required
May float to other critical care units such as PCU or CTICU when census is low

Equipment Used

Computer systems
Vitals machine
IV pumps
Ventilators
BiPAP/CPAP machines
Vigileo monitor
Swan catheter (when floating to CTICU, no fresh hearts)
Balloon pump
Cooling blanket
Hoyer lift
Camino monitor
Tube feeding pumps
Sequential compression devices
Foot pumps
Defibrillator
Train of Four monitor
Doppler

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Maryland
Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience working with Level 1 and Level 2 Trauma patients
Active BLS and ACLS certifications issued by the American Heart Association
Basic knowledge of Vasopressors, Antiarrhythmics, and Paralytics

Additional Information

Nurses will independently manage their patients but will not be alone on the unit
