Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - L&D/PP

Location

San Luis Obispo, California

Contract Length

13 weeks

Unit Details

Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Postpartum (PP)
9 L&D beds
4 Postpartum beds
Approximately 55 births per month

Work Schedule

Night shifts, 12 hours (6 PM to 6 AM)
36 hours per week
Weekend requirement: every other weekend
Holidays worked in rotation with permanent staff
Shift rotation includes floating between L&D and Postpartum units

Patient Population and Care

Patients 34 weeks gestation and above
High-risk deliveries
Birth plans are highly respected and followed
Must have experience circulating for C-sections

Orientation and Support

Floor-specific orientation: 3 shifts
Charge nurse present but does not take patient assignments
OB tech support available on day and night shifts
Respiratory therapy available 24/7
Pharmacy not available 24/7; after-hours coverage through an external service
Fetal monitoring system: Fetal Link
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Cerner
Telemetry monitoring: Phillips system
OB/Neonatologist available on call

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid RN license in California
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience
Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
One completed travel assignment
Postpartum nursing experience
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
AWHONN certification

Additional Information

Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines
Scrubs provided by hospital
No call requirement
Floating between L&D and Postpartum units expected
