ICU Float Pool RN

Overview

• Travel contract for an experienced ICU nurse in California.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
• This is a float pool position based at St John's Regional Medical Center and will be required to float to St John's Pleasant Valley.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in California.
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• 3 years of ICU experience.

Preferred

• Travel experience.
• Cerner experience.
• General ICU experience is preferred, though neuro or cardiac specific experience may also be considered.

Unit Details

• Primary unit: ICU & CCU, 20 beds.
• Secondary unit: ICU, 8 beds.
• Float scope includes IMCU (stepdown), Observation, DOU, tele, and medsurg.
• Nurses are required to read strips.
• Ratios are 1:2, and may be 1:1.
• Vents are used on the unit.
• RT and Pharmacy are available 24/7.
• No IV team.
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
• Holidays are worked into the perm staff rotation.
• Scrub color: Navy.

Patient Population / Clinical Focus

• Neuro surgery cases including craniotomies, carotids, ventriculostomies, and ICP monitoring.
• Open heart, post caths, impellas, and balloon pumps.
• Sepsis, respiratory failure, pneumonia, stroke, and chronic vents.
• The unit will be getting cath lab patients, with a more cardiac population and increased acuity.
• No CRRT or ECMO.
