Shift

Nights, 12-hour shifts
Shift times: 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
Every other weekend

Unit Overview

Progressive care unit
55 beds
Adult patients; pediatric patients are rare and, when present, are age 15 or older
Typical patient diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, and weakness

Required Qualifications

Registered Nurse
ACLS
BLS
NIHSS
Telemetry experience
Driver’s license required at submittal
Must live outside the 50-mile radius
Cannot be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity

Responsibilities and Work Environment

Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 on days and nights
Charge nurse present
Nursing assistant support available
Additional support includes educators, care managers, social workers, dieticians, PT, and OT
Float to medical-surgical areas as needed, based on highest need
Common medications and therapies include PCA pumps, Cardizem, and insulin
Mechanical lifts are available in every other room

Hiring Notes

Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
RN orientation includes an open-book pass/fail exam; a score of 90% is required to pass
