Family Birthing Center (LDRP) RN

Overview

• Travel contract for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses in a Family Birthing Center (LDRP).
• 14-week contract.
• 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in California.
• 2 years of experience.
• BLS
• ACLS
• NRP
• AWHONN
• STABLE
• NIH
• Must be able to do L&D and MC/PP, including all aspects of delivery.
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
• First-time travelers will not be considered.
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring copy required at submittal.
• Driver’s license required at submittal.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience “catching baby” / working NRP role is highly preferred.
• STABLE is preferred.

Unit Details

• Family Birthing Center - LDRP.
• 1:2 L&D ratio.
• 1:1 delivery ratio.
• 1:4 Mother/Baby couplets.
• 2 RNs go to the OR for C-section: 1 for mom and 1 for baby; both circulate.
• 1 OR suite and 1 recovery room.
• Common patient types include term, preterm, mostly high risk, and antepartum patients.

Schedule and Work Environment

• Every other weekend required.
• Holidays rotate with core staff.
• 30-minute response time if placed on call.
• Self-scheduling is used.
• Block scheduling is generally not available.
• OT and extra shifts are available.
• Floor orientation is 2-4 days with a preceptor.
• Charge nurse generally does not take patients but does break relief.
• Nurse aides are available as census and staffing dictates.
• Telemetry is used; ability to interpret EKG strips is required.
• No vents.
• Hospitalist or Intensivist in house.
• RT 24/7.
• Pharmacy 24/7.

Floating

• May float to other Sacramento facilities.
• Mid-shift float to another facility can happen.

Additional Notes

• Scrub color is provided.
• Excellent breastfeeding support.
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by facilities associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year.
