Overview

• Travel RN role in a combined HVI unit with Cardio/General ICU/PCU/MedSurg patients.
• This is an ASAP need.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Shift: nights, 12 hours.
• Weekly hours: 36.
• Unit has 18 beds.

Required Qualifications

• RN license.
• BLS.
• ACLS.
• NIHSS.
• 1 year of experience with this patient population.
• Must be able to titrate drips.
• Driver’s license required at submittal.
• Must pass an open-book exam during orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Generalist ICU experience.
• PCU experience.

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4, and 1:3 for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hours.
• Common patient types include intermediate care patients and downgraded CVICU patients.
• The unit supports the thoracic program, EP, cath lab, and structural heart.
• Common diagnoses include Cath Lab, CVAs, CHF, A fib RVR, and other cardiac and vascular diagnoses.
• RT is in the ICU 24/7.
• Hospitalist and intensivist are in house 24/7, with Cardiology on call after hours.
• Charge nurse is present each shift and rarely takes an assignment.
• Nurse aides/patient care techs are present at a ratio of 1:18.
• RNs must read and interpret tele strips.
• Common equipment includes BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula.
• Floating is to all same-level and lower-acuity units.
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
• Scrub color: navy blue.
• Orientation is 1–2 shifts on the unit, tailored to experience.
