Job Overview for Registered Nurse Position

Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Facility: Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

  • RTO (Request Time Off): No April/May RTO dates will be approved. RTO after booking is not allowed. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could lead to cancellation.
  • Scheduling: Self-scheduling; no block scheduling will be accommodated. The Nurse Manager creates the schedule.
  • Shift: 12-hour days.
  • Float Requirement: Floating required as needed.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required.

Required Skills and Certifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience. First-time travelers accepted.
  • Skills: IV Start, Telemetry.
  • Certifications:
    • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)

Preferred Skills and Certifications

  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIH (National Institutes of Health)

Patient Care

  • Patient Diagnoses: Medical-Surgical patients (no cardiac telemetry patients accepted).

Target Ratios

  • Patient-to-Nurse Ratio: 1:6/7 during normal staffing; max 1:7 when census is up.

Unit Systems

  • Technology Used: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR.

Orientation

  • Unit Orientation: 24 hours.

Dress Code

  • Scrubs: Navy and/or White.

Additional Information

  • Health Requirements:
    • Must pass EKG Testing prior to start.
    • Various health documents and competencies required, including TB testing, drug screening, and vaccination records.
  • Background Check: Required within 90 days of start.
  • References: Required as applicable.

Compliance and Documentation

  • Flu Vaccination: Required by 10/31/24 for the flu season.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required for travel placements; must be fully vaccinated for per diem.
  • Education Verification: Required for the highest degree earned.
