Registered Nurse - Rehab (Travel/Contract)

Location: Napa, California
Shift: Day (5x8 Hours), 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Hours per Week: 40


Job Details

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • First Time Traveler: Yes, open to first-time travelers
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Float: Yes, possible float to Medical-Surgical and Orthopedics units
  • Call: May be required depending on patient census
  • Patient Load: 7 rooms/beds, average daily census 8
  • Staff Ratios: Not applicable
  • Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • California RN License: Must be active; pending licenses are not accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification required
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required if applicable, AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required if applicable, current certification from AAP, AHA, or Canadian Pediatric Society
  • Other Certifications: May include Chemotherapy, Electronic Fetal Monitoring, IV Certification, Management of Assaultive Behavior, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) as required by unit or clinical track
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs

Required Documents & Background Checks

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card (as applicable)
  • Background Check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must include SSN Trace, Death Master Index, Counties, Nationwide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification, MVR (if Home Health), and International Background Search if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Education Verification: Nursing degree verification required; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report
  • Employment Application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
  • Work History Verification required if reference requirements are not met
  • Skills Checklist: Required and must be updated annually for applicable units
  • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
  • Fit Mask test (respirator fit testing) required for travel starts after 2/5/2024; must be updated annually
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella; declinations accepted
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination; positive titer plus vaccination required for Alaska placements
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer; declinations accepted
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (9/1–3/30) or signed declination
    • COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations not required but unvaccinated must follow infection prevention protocols
  • Drug Screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; instants acceptable with signed attestation

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Competency Exams as required by specialty/unit
  • For Labor & Delivery RNs: Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam required

Additional Requirements

  • Float Policy Acknowledgement: May be required to float to other facilities within reasonable distance
  • Annual Regulatory and Specialty-Specific Training Modules via LMS (Workramp) required
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance: Annual medical clearance for respirator use required for travel starts after 2/5/2024
  • State-specific background and registry checks as applicable (e.g., Washington State Patrol Search, OBRA Registry for CNAs if applicable)

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
  • Minimum of 2 years of rehabilitation nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
