Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) - Outpatient
Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Work schedule: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (Day shift, typically 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM)
- Setting: Outpatient therapy/rehabilitation
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant
- Open to first-time travel healthcare workers
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Texas Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) License
- Driver’s License or State ID
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as applicable
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as applicable
- Other certifications as applicable: Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP), Chemotherapy (CHEMO), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), NIH Stroke Certification
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapy Assistant experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Chemotherapy (CHEMO) certification
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Valid Driver’s License
Required Documentation & Compliance
- E-Verify completion (for direct hires)
- 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender check, and education verification
- Education verification of highest level completed (transcript or diploma may be accepted temporarily)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit test for approved masks within 1 year of start date (annual renewal required)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start date
- Immunizations/vaccine requirements:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines required)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination accepted)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented chickenpox history)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest X-ray if positive
- Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- TB questionnaire within 90 days of start (renew annually if positive)
- Photo for badge
- Skills checklist specific to unit (annual)
- Work history verification for 7 years
- Employment application and resume required
- Professional references:
- 2 references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within 2 years)
- 1 reference for per diem non-acute care roles (within 2 years)
Additional Notes
- Candidates residing in certain Texas counties (including Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris) are not eligible for this travel contract.
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted.
This position requires compliance with all listed certifications, immunizations, background checks, and documentation prior to start.
