ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Southlake, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45–7:15)
Hours per Week: 36

Patient diagnoses include cardiac, STEMI, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, vascular procedures, post invasive spinal surgery, DIEP flaps, and more
May require working weekends, floating, and holidays as needed
Scrub color: Navy
Accepts first-time travel nurses

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Texas
Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Certifications & Competencies

ACLS and BLS must be current; AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
NIH Stroke Certification required (valid for 2 years; may be obtained within 30 days of hire onsite)
Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: must pass with 80% or higher; two attempts allowed; to be completed within 30 days of start
Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for ICU nurses; two attempts allowed; annual renewal required
Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for all RNs; two attempts allowed
Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, TNCC, NRP) but not specified for this ICU role

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, or passport) matching all documentation
Background checks within 30 days of start, including 7-year criminal history and sex offender search
E-Verify or attestation required
Verification of licensure required
Physical exam within 12 months of start
Fit mask test completed onsite during orientation; updated annually
Negative TB test (TSpot or QGold) within 12 months; annual updates required
Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series and positive titer or signed declination)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with titers or vaccination documentation
- Varicella with titers or vaccination documentation
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) required for all travelers
Drug screening: 10-panel test within 30 days of start (no rapid screens)
Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1–Mar 31)
Two professional references within the last 3 years
