Schedule
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour shifts, day (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) or night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Rotating holidays
- Up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period (Saturday/Sunday for dayshift, Friday/Saturday for nightshift)
- Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
Patient Ratio
- Estimated 1:1 to 1:2 patient ratio
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Proficient in telemetry (TELE) monitoring
- Skilled in ventilator (VENTS) management
- Experience managing Swan-Ganz catheters (SWANZ)
- Competent in conscious sedation procedures
- Experience with intra-aortic balloon pumps (BALLOON PUMPS)
- Skilled in managing pulmonary artery (PA) lines
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Ohio
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI accepted)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI accepted)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification, PALS, NRP) – verify per unit specifics
Required Competencies and Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
- Unit-specific competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 1 year of start (with remediation process if needed)
Background and Credentialing Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
- Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- State license verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification for RN license
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
- Tdap vaccination (adult dose after age 11/12)
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, and Rubella (with booster requirements if low titer)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer (medical exemptions require documentation)
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (signed declination acceptable)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 – 3/31)
- Fit mask test annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles starting 7/13/2026 and beyond
Facility Policies and Training
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Background check and fingerprinting results must be clear prior to start; pending fingerprint attestations accepted under specific conditions
- Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgement required
- Confidential Fraud Waste Abuse and Compliance Reporting Mechanism form required
Additional Notes
- Parking permits available for agency staff (costs and options subject to change)
- Candidates must be prepared to complete fingerprinting and background checks promptly due to strict facility requirements
- EPIC experience is mandatory for this role
- Floating to other units of similar or lower acuity is required
