Overview
Join a Level 1 Trauma 18-bed Operating Room providing care during a wide variety of surgeries including General, Robotic, Laparoscopic, Trauma, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Spinal, Ophthalmology, ENT, Plastics, Burns, Urology, GYN, and Transplant procedures.
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (36 hours/week)
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care during surgical procedures.
- Circulate and scrub, with focus on Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Spine, and General Surgery cases.
- Collaborate closely with the surgical team.
- Maintain accurate patient records using EPIC.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Trauma experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records system.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in ENT, Genitourinary (GU), Plastics, and Burns surgeries.
Certifications & Competencies
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA provider or instructor level.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA provider or instructor level (required for certain units).
- Unit-specific competency exams including Medication/Pharmacology and Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams (EKG exam required annually except for certain exclusions).
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (must be completed within 1 year of start).
- Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA).
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, opiates, etc.).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and freedom from contagious disease.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies.
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership role.
- Employment application and skills checklist required.
- Ohio-specific fingerprinting and background attestations as per state regulations.
