Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work schedule includes day and evening shifts (8 or 12 hours), with shift times such as 07:00-19:30, 07:00-15:30, and 15:00-23:30.
  • Every other weekend rotation, holidays, and one on-call shift every 6 weeks.
  • Total of approximately 36 hours per week.
  • Experience in both pediatric and adult respiratory therapy preferred.
  • Must have experience working in an Academic Level 1 Trauma center or a hospital of similar size.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in Wisconsin.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a staff respiratory therapist, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience working in an Academic Level 1 Trauma center or a hospital of similar size.

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (AHA) required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications may be required based on unit.
  • Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
  • Facility-specific telemetry testing and competency exams may be required if applicable.

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including nationwide and local searches.
  • Education verification required for Respiratory Therapist program.
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and BID form required.
  • Drug screening per standard clinical requirements.
  • Physical exam and immunization documentation required, including:
    • TB testing or chest X-ray.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or immunity.
    • Varicella vaccination or immunity.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption.
    • Other vaccines or declinations as required by department.

Additional Information

  • Pediatric and adult experience preferred.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • References: Two clinical references within the last 3 years required.
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required.
  • Facility-specific orientation and safety acknowledgments required.
