Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Stepdown/Cardiac Telemetry
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 10 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Registered Nurse (RN) in Stepdown/Cardiac Telemetry unit
- Schedule: 8-week blocked rotating days and nights
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 4 weekend shifts plus 4 Monday or Friday shifts based on unit needs
- Floating: PCU/Stepdown/IMCU units
- On-Call: Yes
- Blocked Scheduling: Not open to blocked scheduling
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac Telemetry, including Telemetry experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with PCU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Orientation & Other Details
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
- Local candidates within 75 miles considered with adjusted pay rate
- Local candidates are welcome
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background checks including:
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 90 days
- Education verification as applicable
- OFAC sanctions list search within 30 days of start
- Health documents required:
- Physical exam within 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Polio vaccine or attestation
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen (including THC) within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination for the 2025-26 season (declinations not accepted)
- Other required documents:
- Employment application with 7 years of work history
- Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (one must be a supervisor)
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Facility-specific requirements:
- Must set up a guest account prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems
- Competency exams and unit-specific training required
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training provided during orientation
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be able to work rotating shifts including weekends and some holidays
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and credentialing requirements
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap from previous assignments may have some documentation accepted on file
