Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Labor and Delivery (L&D) Registered Nurse
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Call Requirements: None
- Time Off (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no time off allowed the day before or after holidays or on weekends
- Floating: Mandatory floating within scope of practice as needed
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including within the last year
- Minimum 2 years of high-risk (level 3) obstetrics experience
- Experience working with high-risk patients and maternal-fetal patients
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Intermediate
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
Additional Requirements
- Local Candidates: Accepted, preference given to those within 75 miles of the facility
- Background Checks: Must have a background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
- Required immunizations/vaccinations including Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and seasonal flu vaccine (or approved exemptions)
- Drug screening within 90 days of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (N95 or equivalent)
- Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology, color blindness, and general competency exams required within 12 months of start
- Documentation: Complete application/resume and skills checklist annually

- Scrub color: Any color allowed

- This is a mandatory float position; flexibility to work in different units as needed is required.
- No block scheduling available.
- No time off allowed around holidays or weekends as specified.
