Registered Nurse - PCU/Oncology

Unit Description

• 24-bed unit serving adult progressive surgical, oncology, palliative care, and progressive acute care patients receiving chemotherapy.
• Drips required on all floors.
• EPIC charting experience required.
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including multiple units such as Neuro, Trauma, Observation, and others.
• Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and some LPNs.
• 100% nicotine-free facility.
• Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days and nights).
• Holiday requirement: Must work 2/3 major holidays.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license valid in Nebraska (pending license accepted but must be in hand before start).
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (American Heart Association).
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, specifically in a large, urban hospital setting.
• First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center.
• EPIC electronic medical record experience required.
• Must be able to float within the facility as needed.
• Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from the facility).

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• Other certifications as applicable (e.g., PALS, NRP) depending on unit assignment
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
• Annual skills checklist required

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Background check within 30 days of start, including nationwide and federal checks.
• Drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually.
• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually.
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask models required).
• Immunizations and titers required: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine documentation or declination.
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, updated annually.
• COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemptions accepted.
• Eye exam required if working in the OR (not typical for this role).
• State-specific registry checks required within 30 days of start.

Additional Information

• Scrubs are mandatory; specific color and style required (Steele gray scrubs).
• Parking permits available for purchase or daily parking options.
• Up to two weeks of return-to-office (RTO) permitted with restrictions.
• Must submit holiday work requests with application.
• Two professional references from the past 2 years required.

Notes

• This is a travel contract position with a 13-week duration.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required but first-time travelers are generally not accepted unless meeting specific experience criteria.
• Floating to multiple units may be required.
• The facility is a high-acuity, academic medical center environment.
