Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – IMC

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in Intermediate Care (IMC) Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units.
  • Shift: Evening/Night, 12-hour shifts (7:00 pm – 7:30 am), Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required.
  • Patient care includes telemetry oncology, cardiac, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units.
  • Ventilator and transplant patient experience required.
  • Must pass a Telemetry test prior to starting.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Wisconsin
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
  • Experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit), DOU, IMC, and cardiac care
  • Ventilator (vent) experience
  • Transplant experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Schedule

  • Evening/Night shifts, 12 hours each (7:00 pm – 7:30 am)
  • Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including nationwide and state-specific caregiver screening (Wisconsin).
  • Education verification as applicable.
  • Drug screening per standard clinical requirements.
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • TB testing and questionnaire
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or exemption
    • Varicella vaccination or exemption
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
    • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual requirement)
    • Other vaccines or declinations as required by department (e.g., Meningococcal for Microbiology)
  • Physical exam (per agency standard).
  • Photo for badge (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except religious/medical).
  • Signed acknowledgments for safety manuals and pass/fail testing.
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable.

Testing & Competency

  • Telemetry pass/fail testing required annually, with remediation and limited attempts.
  • Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
  • Rhythm interpretation course required if remediation is needed after failed telemetry tests.

Additional Notes

  • Two clinical references within the last 3 years required.
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required.
  • Strict compliance with all state and facility-specific credentialing and screening requirements.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with telemetry, cardiac, and progressive care skills who are comfortable working night shifts in an intermediate care setting and meeting rigorous compliance standards.
