Job Opportunity: Pathologists Assistant

Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks

Job Description

• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM (5x8 hour shifts)
• No call, float, or weekend requirements
• Orientation: 8 hours unit orientation plus hospital orientation during week one (daily attendance required)
• Systems used: EPIC for medication, documentation, and communication
• Scrubs color: Caribbean Blue

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Pathologists Assistant, including experience within the last year
• Certification: ASCP - Pathologists Assistant (PA)
• Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)
• Experience with EPIC system

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree preferred
• Additional skills: specimen accessioning, cutting and staining frozen sections, postmortem examinations, removal of brain and spinal cord, gross/microscopic photography

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background checks including local county, federal court, national criminal database, DOJ sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree earned
• Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (or within 30 days if past positive TB)
• Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training (not required for non-clinical)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: titer, series, or facility-specific declination if negative/equivocal
• TB testing: PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 5 years and physician-signed TB questionnaire within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 to 10/31)
• Required to complete facility-specific education modules and compliance training prior to start
• Must complete medication safety training and provide certificate of completion
• Must complete facility confidentiality agreement and hospital policies acknowledgment
• Must provide professional references as per Aya Healthcare requirements

Additional Notes

• Candidates must provide a passport-style photo on a solid white background for badge creation (specific instructions apply)
• Candidates must complete the Corp ID and I-Learn account setup within 72 hours of contract signing to avoid start delays
• Radiation badge required only if applicable to role (not typical for this position)
