Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for Operating Room assignments with rotating days off (no set or consecutive days). On-call 2–3 days per month, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience in surgical specialties including Neurology, ENT, Orthopedics, Urology, Vascular Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Bariatrics, and OB/GYN
Schedule
- Rotating days off (no set or consecutive days)
- On-call 2–3 days per month
- Weekends and holidays as needed
Additional Details
- Flu vaccination is mandatory; no exemptions or declinations accepted
- Scrubs provided
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
- First-time travelers are welcome
- Local candidates within 75 miles considered
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background checks including SSN trace, alias searches, nationwide and international checks (if applicable), education verification, and sanction list searches
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- Immunizations/vaccinations required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Polio
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination required for new candidates starting October through March
- Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (one must be a supervisor)
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)
Orientation & Onboarding
- Candidates must set up a Duke Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
- Competency exams and unit-specific training required
- Completion of online modules prior to orientation
- Candidate Badge photo and other facility-specific onboarding requirements

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments may have some documentation requirements waived or accepted on file
