Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit & Patient Population

  • 36-bed unit with private rooms
  • Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
  • Patient ages range from young adult to geriatric
  • Focus on medical cardiac care and post-cardiac intervention recovery (e.g., cardiac surgery, stent placement, pacemaker implant)
  • Also admits hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients
  • Float required to units of equal or lesser acuity
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend

Experience & Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Certifications

  • Other certifications as applicable: PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, Management of Assaultive Behavior, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI

Licensure

  • Primary source verification required

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
  • Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and federal exclusions screening
  • Photo for badge required

Additional Notes

  • Local candidates residing in certain counties are not eligible
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
  • Complete application and work history verification required
  • References not required for clearance but may be requested internally

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable working in a cardiac-focused unit and have EPIC system proficiency.
