Travel/Contract ICU Registered Nurse

Location: San Francisco, California
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
  • Shift: 4x8 hour shifts, AM shift (07:00 - 15:30)
  • No on-call duties, but weekend rotation required
  • Floating as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in California
  • Minimum 3 years ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Prior Travel Experience

  • Not explicitly required

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (AHA or ARC)
  • BLS (AHA or ARC)
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (expiration 1-2 years)
  • Pass/Fail EKG exam required onsite after start (for ICU RNs)
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Other certifications may be position-dependent (e.g., CCRN, TNCC)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
  • TB screening: Negative QGold or TSPOT within 90 days or 2 PPDs as specified, renewed annually
  • Immunizations:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or boosters as needed
    • Hepatitis B series or declination
    • Varicella immunity or boosters as needed
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests)
  • Respiratory safety clearance, renewed annually

Documentation & Orientation

  • Must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start
  • TB questionnaire required within 90 days of start, renewed annually
  • Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps
  • Work history verification up to 7 years required
  • References: 2 professional references within 3 years (Aya requirement)

  • Candidate must comply with all background, health, and competency requirements prior to start
  • Religious exemptions for vaccines and facial hair accommodations considered on a case-by-case basis with required documentation
