Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with a strong background in complex gastroenterology procedures, including ERCP cases. The RN will be responsible for managing nursing care from admission to discharge, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and disease prevention, and responding to medical emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate nursing care, ensuring compassionate, competent, and cost-effective patient care.
- Provide care in routine and complex situations, prioritizing patient safety and comfort.
- Serve as liaison between nursing and medical staff to facilitate collaborative patient care.
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient/family assessments including biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning factors.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
- Administer treatments, medications, and nursing skills timely and accurately.
- Monitor patient condition and communicate significant changes to physicians.
- Respond calmly and efficiently to emergency interventions.
Work Schedule
- Variable shift start time between 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: As needed
Required Qualifications
Licenses/Certifications:
- California RN License
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the specialty (GI Lab with complex gastroenterology procedures)
- Prior travel experience: 6 months (not explicitly required but noted)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (renewed annually)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella immunity or vaccination documentation
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
- Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually.
- Completion of facility-specific documents and orientations prior to start (e.g., HIPAA, Code of Conduct, Vendor Training, etc.).
Additional Notes
- Candidates must have a strong knowledge of nursing processes and policies.
- Must be able to perform under pressure and handle emergency situations effectively.
- Must complete all required competency exams and skills checklists as applicable.
- Employment application must include a full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
- References and employment verifications are required as per agency standards.
