Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Johnson City, Tennessee

Schedule & Work Details

• 36/36 or 36/48 schedule (36/48 if confirmed by 01/31/26)
• Rotating weekends and rotating holidays
• No call required
• Self-scheduling available
• Hospital may cancel/call off one shift biweekly without penalty if census decreases
• Additional shifts above commitment are overtime and may be flexed as needed
• Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Experience & Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• Accepts first-time travelers (prior travel experience NOT required)
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Traveler must live at least 100 miles from the facility

Certifications Required

• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
• AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification (check unit description for requirement)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – check if required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required for ER, can be pending at start but highly preferred
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – highly preferred for ER, not required
• State License Primary Source Verification
• NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)

Background Checks & Compliance

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
• HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
• Education verification required
• Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check if licensed/certified in TN or working in TN

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
• Fit mask testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility sources not accepted)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
• MMR titers (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) or documentation of vaccination/boosters
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
• Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
• Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31)

Orientation & Onboarding

• General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
• Photo for badge must be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing
• Respirator medical evaluation questionnaire and clearance forms must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
• Candidate must review and comply with facility-specific dress code, uniform guidelines, contaminated sharps and body fluid exposure statement, smoking and tobacco use policy, influenza policy, and facial hair guidelines for respirator use
