Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Greenville, South Carolina

Position Details

• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Patient Population: Adults/Geriatrics
• Floating: Required to float to other units or campuses as needed, limited to qualified areas with documented competencies.

Experience Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
• Additional Experience: Must have Trauma Level 1 experience
• EPIC Charting: Minimum 1 year of EPIC experience required
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted

Licensure & Certifications

• License: Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license for South Carolina required (no pending licenses accepted)
• Required Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Required Skills & Competencies

• Proficient in Adult Critical Care work settings
• Skilled in:

  • Extubation
  • Nasal airway placement
  • Suctioning (oral and airway)
  • Pulmonary hygiene
  • Sputum specimen collection
  • Tracheostomy care
• Medication administration experience with:

  • Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, inhaled steroids, Ispurel, Lidocaine, Perforomist, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, Terbutaline sulfate, Tobramycin, Xopenex
• Experience delivering medication via aerosol setup mask, aerosol setup trach, Medihaler, Metered Dose inhaler
• Experience with handheld, T-piece, and trach collar nebulizers
• Experience with high flow nasal cannula and trach collar oxygen therapy
• Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation

Scheduling & Policies

• All scheduling requests must be submitted and approved at booking
• Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background checks including 7-year history, aliases, and multi-state/county searches
• Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually
• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 90 days)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B documentation or declination
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption (not required for 100% remote)
• Respirator Fit Test completed onsite during orientation
• Annual competency exams and training modules required (Core Parts I, II, III)
• Medication and pharmacology competency exams required annually
• Pass/Fail testing (EKG/Medication) required prior to orientation
• Floating policy acknowledgment required

Orientation & Training

• Online modules (~12 hours) must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite
• Pass/Fail testing must be completed before start; two attempts allowed with an 84% passing score

Additional Notes

• Candidates must carry a valid driver’s license for computer access setup
• Badge photo required prior to start (passport-style, plain background)
• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted

This position offers an opportunity to work in a Level 1 Trauma facility with a focus on adult critical care respiratory therapy in a travel contract role. Candidates must be prepared for night shifts, floating responsibilities, and comprehensive compliance requirements.
