Job Opportunity: Cardiac Tele Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Bel Air, Maryland
Specialty: Registered Nurse - Cardiac MS/Telemetry
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (19:00 - 07:30), every other week (EOW)
Hours: 36 hours per week
Start Date: 02/23/2026
Job Description
- Provide nursing care for telemetry patients with primary or secondary cardiac diagnoses, primary stroke/TIA, and stable cardiac catheterization patients.
- Monitor patients remotely using the Hicuity System.
- Administer specialty drips including Cardizem (non-titratable), Amiodarone, Heparin, Protonix, and Lasix.
- Use equipment such as Zebra portable phones, Alaris IV pumps, and Covidien Feeding Pumps.
- Floating required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed.
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
- Holiday shifts required as scheduled.
- No pre-scheduled on-call, but may be called in rarely due to low census.
- Patient age group: Adult and Geriatrics.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty required.
- First-time travelers accepted with strong skills and experience.
- Prior travel experience: Not required.
Licenses and Certifications Required
- Maryland RN State License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- NIH Stroke Certification (must be updated annually)
Competencies and Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80%+)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Competency Exam relevant to specialty (score 80%+)
- Age Specific Competency Exam (score 80%+)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (score 80%+)
- MS/Tele competency exam specific to unit
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually.
- Education verification for highest level of education.
- Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
- Drug testing: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30-45 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted).
- Two professional references required within 1 year of start (one must be a supervisor/manager or charge RN).
- Previous 5 years of employment history verification required.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (including Latex Screen).
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination as applicable.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes, updated annually.
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- COVID vaccination not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking.
Facility Specific Requirements
- Confidentiality agreement and dress code review prior to start.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and training documents.
- Badge photo and security ID application required.
- Completion of OSHA questionnaire.
- Review and sign facility appearance standards, fingernail hygiene policy, standards of business conduct, and agency acknowledgements.
- Unit-specific job description must be signed prior to start.
Additional Information
- Floating within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed.
- Weekend and holiday shifts required.
- No regular on-call, but may be called in rarely.
- Patient population includes adult and geriatric telemetry patients with cardiac and stroke-related diagnoses.
