Job Opportunity: Surgical Services (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: Night (Sunday - Thursday, 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Sunday (part of the Sunday-Thurs schedule)
• Types of Cases Required: 80
• Average Daily Tray Volume: 700
• Number of ORs: 72
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years (minimum)
• First-Time Travelers: Will consider first-time travelers with Trauma I experience and at least 2 years of experience
• Local Candidates: Not accepted (must be outside a 75-mile radius)
• Pending State License: Accepted
• On-Call: Not required
• Floating: Floating within facility and scope of care is required; no floating to sister facilities
• Block Schedule: Not accommodated
• Earbuds/Cellphones: Not allowed during shifts

Certifications & Licenses Required

• National Certification: One of the following required:

  • CBSPD
  • CRST (Through HSPA, formerly IAHCSMM)
• BLS: Not required
• State License: Must have valid license; Missouri licenses verifiable on NURSYS
• Additional Certifications: May be required depending on unit (refer to facility/unit specifics)

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Background Check: Criminal background check required within 6 months of start, including statewide and nationwide searches
• Education Verification: Verification of highest education related to profession required before start
• Drug Testing: Required within 1 year of start, must include a full panel (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, PCP) and be current throughout assignment
• Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start
• Fit Mask: Annual fit testing required; must be able to wear N95 masks properly
• Immunizations & Health Documents:

  • Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
• Other Facility-Specific Documents: HIPAA Acknowledgement, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Confidentiality Form, Regulatory Compliance Education, Hand Hygiene Policy, Fingernail Policy, Dress Code Policy, and Orientation Modules (for RNs and LVNs)

Competency & Skills Requirements

• Unit-Specific Competency Exams: Required and must be updated annually
• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required as applicable
• Skills Checklist: Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
• Additional Testing: Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for applicable roles (e.g., Monitor Techs)

References & History

• Two professional references required (supervisors within the last year preferred)
• Employment application required
• Performance evaluations may be requested but are not mandatory for clearance or extensions

• No prior travel experience explicitly required for this position
• Guaranteed minimum of 3 shifts per 13-week contract
• Attendance policy: No more than 7 days off; 2 or more attendance issues within contract considered excessive
