Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lexington, Kentucky


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 14 weeks
  • Shift: 10-hour shifts with call required
  • Experience Required:
    • Minimum 2 years Interventional Radiology (IR) experience
    • Minimum 1 year Neuro experience (or experience with Neuro in a general ICU)
    • Neuro IR procedure experience required
  • Patient Population: Neonates through geriatric patients in a procedure setting
  • Travel Experience: Prior travel experience required
  • Local Travelers: Not accepted within 75 miles of the facility

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, RQI accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, RQI accepted
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Academy of Pediatrics and American Heart, renewed every 2 years
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy certification) - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) or ONCC preferred
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Must be current and renewed every 4 years
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Blue Card required, can be completed onsite
  • Certification for First Assist RNs (if applicable)
  • State Nursing License verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) within 30 days of start

Required Competencies and Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score 80% or higher)
  • Color Blind Testing (passing score 80%)
  • Unit Specific Competency Exams (annual renewal, passing score 80% or higher)
  • Conscious Sedation Competency Exam (annual renewal)
  • RN Math Ability Competency Exam (annual renewal, minimum 80% passing score)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) - Required for ICU, IR, Cath Lab, ER, PACU, Telemetry, Stepdown, and other units; two attempts allowed only
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for ICU, Endo/GI Lab, ER, PACU, Tele/PCU, Step Down, MICU

Background and Health Requirements

  • Background Check within 1 year, updated annually (includes county criminal, national sex offender, FACIS III, education verification)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • Transcript/Diploma and Education Verification required
  • Physical Exam within 1 year, signed by MD, NP, or PA, stating good health and no physical limitations
  • Fit Mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N95 or equivalent)
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year, renewed annually)
    • TB Questionnaire annually if history of positive TB
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella - Positive titer or 2 vaccines, booster if equivocal/negative
    • Hepatitis B - Positive titer, series, or declination (annual renewal)
    • Varicella - Positive titer or 2 vaccines, booster if equivocal/negative
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption (annual)
    • COVID vaccine series or approved medical/religious exemption (annual)
  • Drug Testing within 1 year, updated annually (specific drug panels required)

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references verified within 6 months of start (manager or supervisor preferred)
  • Employment application with explanation for any gaps longer than 30 days
  • Employment verification for the past 7 years, completed 8 business days prior to start
  • Skills Checklists updated annually and valid during contract
  • Facility-specific documents and policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
