Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Dayton, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work in a mixed acuity unit caring for advanced care level patients, including those on advanced drips.
• Experience with advanced care/step down units preferred.
• Targeted patient ratios: typically 1:4, can be up to 1:5-6.
• Participate in team nursing or primary nursing models depending on unit needs.
• Must float to all Stepdown/Advanced Care units within the hospital system, including multiple campuses within 15 miles.
• Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays.
• No holiday Return to Office (RTO) accepted; no more than 7 days of RTO approved.
• No local candidates accepted.
• 36 or 48-hour shifts accepted; overtime paid after 48 hours for 48-hour shifts.
• No block scheduling.
• Must pass an online EKG Tele Competency Assessment prior to starting.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years in a large hospital; Level 1 experience preferred but Level 2 accepted.
• Prior Travel Experience: Preferred but not explicitly required.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (must be current within 12 months)
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
• Willingness to obtain NIH Stroke Certification if not already held.
• Nurses will be fitted for N95 masks prior to working on the HRRU unit unless PAPR is needed/offered.
• Must float as assigned by Premier Health discretion.

Scheduling & Work Conditions

• No travel partners allowed.
• Travelers are not eligible for Premier Health Employee incentives.
• Medical exemptions will not be accepted for this contract.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Must complete and provide:

  • I-9 and E-Verify documentation
  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal background, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness to work
  • Drug testing (9 or 10 panel including marijuana) within 12 months
  • Immunizations and health documents including TB, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • Respiratory safety clearance and medical questionnaire for respiratory protection
  • Skills checklist updated within 1 year
  • References (2 within 2 years, including 1 manager/supervisor/charge RN) or employment verification
• Must complete unit-specific competency exams including:

  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required within 1 year or within 72 hours of contract signing)
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (within 2 years)
• Must complete online EKG Tele Competency Assessment before starting.

Additional Notes

• Floating assignments may include multiple campuses within the Dayton area.
• Must be willing to work in a team nursing environment.
• No local candidates accepted; travel-only position.
• No block scheduling; shift lengths of 36 or 48 hours accepted.
• Overtime paid after 48 hours on 48-hour shifts.
• No holiday RTO accepted.
• Must be able to pass all required competency exams and certifications prior to start.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with advanced care patients, flexible floating assignments, and working in a fast-paced, mixed acuity environment.
