Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Charge RN) - Seattle, Washington

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Charge RN)

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: January 26
  • Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts (0600-1630), possible weekends and holidays
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1
  • Floating: Required; float between Main hospital, Outpatient Surgery Center, and Hernia Center
  • Call Requirement: Yes
  • Weekend Requirement: Possible weekends and holidays
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated unless otherwise stated
  • Locals Accepted: Yes
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Return to Office Restrictions: 1 week max

Experience & Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Preferred at least 2 completed travel assignments; first-time travelers may be considered
  • Charge Nurse Experience: Must have prior charge nurse experience
  • Competencies: Must be competent in robotics and willing to train new hire RNs
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification (may be required depending on unit)
  • Other Certifications:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% minimum in dosage calculations)
    • Color Blind Testing
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ICU/SCU, MS/Tele, PACU, ER)
    • Conscious Sedation Competency Exam (for GI Lab/Endo nurses)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks: 7-year criminal background check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, State-specific WA WATCH search
  • Education Verification: Required (diploma/transcripts acceptable)
  • Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam (within 1 year)
    • Fit mask test (within 12 months)
    • TDAP vaccine (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
    • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination required)
    • Drug screening (10 panel, within 1 year)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination documentation
    • COVID vaccination or declination (for tracking)
  • Facility Specific:
    • EPIC integration video and attestation
    • Photo for badge (DMV style, no selfies)
    • Various agreements and checklists depending on unit and facility
    • Suicide prevention training for multi-state licensed nurses working in WA
    • Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Training (for Labor & Delivery RNs)

Additional Notes

  • Guaranteed hours may be adjusted based on census; travelers may be called off or placed on-call in 4-hour increments up to one shift in a two-week cycle.
  • For ambulatory or surgical services closed on weekends/holidays, travelers may not be scheduled or guaranteed minimum hours during those times.

This position is ideal for experienced charge nurses with at least 2 years of specialty experience, who are comfortable floating between units and have competency in robotics. Prior travel experience is preferred but first-time travelers may be considered.
