Job Overview

Work Schedule

• On-call once weekly (5:30 PM to 7:00 AM)
• On-call every 4th weekend (7:00 AM Saturday to 7:00 AM Monday)
• Potential for one 24-hour holiday on-call shift

Unit & Patient Care

• Cardiac Cath Lab with Level 3 designation
• Fast-paced, high acuity environment
• 2 Electrophysiology (EP) labs and 5 Cath labs
• Procedures include pacemaker devices, ablations, ICD insertions, structural heart procedures (Watchman, TAVR, Mitraclips)
• Approximately 20 patients per day across all labs

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 1 year cardiac cath lab experience
• Preferred experience in Electrophysiology (EP), EPIC, and MacLab systems
• Responsibilities include:

  • Performing advanced cardiac cath and peripheral angiography
  • Electrophysiologic studies and therapeutic interventional procedures
  • Cardiac device implantation procedures
  • Providing peri-procedural care and patient education
  • Assisting cardiologists and specialists with diagnostic and interventional procedures
  • Maintaining procedural records and documentation

Required Credentials & Compliance

• Licensure:

  • Ohio RN license (primary source verification required)
  • NURSYS verification required

• Certifications:

  • ACLS (AHA only)
  • BLS (AHA only)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required within 12 months prior to start; annual update required)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (within 1 year or must pass within 72 hours of contract signing)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM)

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, national/state checks, sex offender registry
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check
  • HHS/OIG check
  • Fingerprinting not required unless working with infants, children, elderly, pharmacy techs, or pain management clinics

• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness for work
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual TB questionnaire if past positive)
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (seasonal)
  • Drug screening within 72 hours of contract signing (9 or 10 panel including marijuana)
  • Respiratory safety clearance within 1 year

• Competencies:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (within 2 years)
  • Unit-specific competency exam (within 2 years)
  • Color blind testing for lab units (if applicable)

• Documentation:

  • I-9 form and E-Verify attestation
  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Residency declaration if using a Compact Nursing license
  • Employment application/resume
  • Skills checklist updated within 1 year
  • References: 2 professional references within 2 years (1 must be manager/supervisor/charge RN)
  • Candidate agreement and annual health questionnaire
