Job Overview

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Accessing ports
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care and management
- PICC line management
- IV start capability
- Assistance with chest tube insertion and removal
- High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) administration
- Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Experience with Epic
Preferred Experience
- Oncology experience preferred
- Previous travel experience preferred
Clinical Skills
- Dysrhythmia interpretation
- Port access
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care and management
- PICC line management
- IV starts
- Chest tube insertion/removal assistance
- High-flow nasal cannula support
- ABG interpretation
Work Expectations
- May float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Rotating day/night scheduling may occur depending on department needs
Unit Focus
- Continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy
- Soft tissue malignancy care, including chemotherapy and symptom management
- Symptom management related to disease progression or treatment
- Comorbidity management
- Infection prevention and fall prevention
Equipment
- Telemetry monitoring system
- Bladder scanner
- IV pumps
- Hospital beds
Additional Notes
- EPIC experience is required
- Annual flu documentation or declination is required during flu season
- Drug screening is required within 3 months of start
- Physical exam, TB clearance, MMR immunity, hepatitis B, varicella, Tdap, and other standard health documentation are required for non-remote candidates

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
