Job Overview

• Travel/contract RN role in Kansas City, Missouri
• Day shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
• 36 hours per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Patient ratio: 1:5

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Oncology (2 years of experience)
• Oncology experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Experience

• Previous charge experience
• Teaching hospital experience

Schedule and Assignment Details

• First-time travelers accepted
• Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period
• Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required as needed
• Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities
• No more than 7 days of requested time off
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks

Unit and Patient Population

• Primary oncology unit caring for patients across all phases of cancer treatment
• Inpatient chemotherapy is administered on the unit
• Also provides post-op care for uro-gyn and gyn-onc surgical patients
• Step-down neuro overflow for strokes, head bleeds, and other neurological needs

Skills and Clinical Experience

• IV therapy and infusion administration
• Central line and port care
• Blood and blood product administration
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring
• Neutropenic precautions
• Wound care
• Foley catheter management
• Chest tube care
• Colostomy care
• Pain management, including PCA pump management
• Oncology emergency recognition and management
• Patient and family education/support
• Chemotherapy-related care and lab value recognition
