Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room

Location: Mequon, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH)
  • Care for Emergency Department (ED) patients as well as back-bedded patients
  • Use EPIC electronic health record system
  • May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed

Required Credentials & Certifications

Licenses & Verification (Required for Submission)

  • Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Driver’s License/State ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements)
  • Resume/Profile
  • Two professional references
  • Ascension Profile

Certifications (Required for Onboarding)

  • BLS (AHA)
  • PALS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • TNCC (renewed every 4 years)
  • NIH Certification (Group A yearly, Group B-F every 2 years)
  • Ascension MOAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) – optional but recommended

Health & Immunizations (Required for Onboarding)

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
  • Fit Test: Required annually; preferred before start, can be done onsite
  • Positive PPD: Negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire (optional but recommended)
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA: Required prior to start and annually thereafter
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter

Onboarding & Testing Requirements (Required for Onboarding)

  • Signed Assignment Agreement (offer letter, initial confirmation, and extensions)
  • Ascension Core Competencies: HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts
  • Ascension EKG Exam: Passing score of 80%, max 2 attempts; updated version required before clearance
  • Ascension Epic Test-Out: Epic test results and training checklist with signed attestation
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation: Completion of 6-hour pre-hire module
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip: Pre-hire modules for non-allied positions
  • Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist completed within one year and updated annually
  • Ascension Criminal Background Check: Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check; updated annually or after break in service >90 days
  • Ascension EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check: Within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service >90 days
  • Ascension Education Verification: Verification of education relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service >90 days
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment: Provided at initial assignment and updated with extensions
  • Ascension Employment Verification: Past 7 years, updated annually or after break in service >90 days

Additional Notes

  • Floating to other sites within 40 miles may be required based on need and skill set
  • All certifications must be current and compliant with AHA standards where applicable
  • Compliance with all onboarding and credentialing requirements is mandatory prior to start
  • Some optional documents/checklists may be requested by unit leaders during assignment

This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Room RNs who are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, using EPIC, and meeting comprehensive credentialing and onboarding requirements.
