Registered Nurse (RN) - Critical Care/ICU-CCU

Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 8 weeks (June 1, 2026 – July 26, 2026)
Note: Extension may be possible based on unit needs.


Job Summary

  • Provide nursing care to adult patients in critical care and telemetry units, including cardiac, stroke, vascular intervention, and hemodynamic monitoring populations.
  • Deliver care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Support the unit during an Epic EMR go-live; Cerner and Epic experience required.
  • Responsible for self-study of telemetry strips; must pass a Basic Dysrhythmia test during the first week to work in the CCU.
  • May be placed on call occasionally during low census periods; must be able to respond and arrive onsite within one hour if called in.
  • Estimated workweek is 36 hours with possible overtime.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with Cerner electronic medical records
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical records

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • COVID-19 vaccine (declination accepted)
  • Influenza vaccine or facility declination (seasonal, optional)
  • MMR: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; declination accepted
  • Negative TB test within past year (TSPOT or QuantiFERON IGG); if history of positive TB, must provide chest x-ray and questionnaire
  • Fit test for approved respirators completed prior to start
  • Physician health statement within last 12 months
  • Drug screen (9-panel) within 30 days of start
  • Background check including SS trace and county search for last 7 years within 30 days of start
  • Adult and Child Abuse clearance per state requirements
  • Education verification through third party
  • Employment eligibility and sanction checks within 30 days of start
  • Completion of skills checklist within 12 months
  • Completion of OSHA questionnaire
  • Driver’s license or state ID current and valid during assignment
