Job Description
Seeking a Sonographer with prior Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) experience to perform comprehensive obstetric ultrasounds, including:
- First trimester scans (NT, early anatomy)
- Detailed second- and third-trimester anatomy surveys
- Growth and biophysical profiles (BPP)
- Multiple gestations
- Cervical length assessment
- Placental evaluation/PAS
- Doppler studies (umbilical artery, MCA, ductus venosus)
- High-risk and specialized exams
Responsibilities include:
- Evaluating complex maternal and fetal conditions
- Identifying abnormal findings
- Supporting fetal therapy and invasive procedures (note: sonographers do not perform or guide procedures such as amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, PUBS, or selective fetal reduction)
- Providing compassionate care to patients facing high-risk pregnancies
- Explaining procedures within scope of practice
- Maintaining patient privacy and emotional sensitivity
- Acquiring high-quality diagnostic images and completing accurate measurements
- Entering exam data into EMR/PACS systems
- Ensuring studies meet accreditation standards (AIUM/ACR)
- Collaborating closely with MFM physicians, radiologists, nurses, genetic counselors, and support staff
- Participating in multidisciplinary care coordination
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of Maternal-Fetal Medicine Sonography experience
- Recent Maternal-Fetal Medicine Sonography experience within the last year
- Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
- Experience working with high-risk patients
Additional Information
- Contract length is approximately 13 weeks
- No prior travel experience explicitly required
- Must be able to work in a high-acuity, multidisciplinary environment focused on high-risk pregnancies
- Compassionate patient care and strong communication skills are essential
