Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 6 weeks
Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 48 hours guaranteed

Job Description

• Float to all inpatient units as needed (travelers do not take pediatric patients)
• Typical patient ratios:

  • Days: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
  • Nights: 1 nurse to 6-7 patients
• Patient population primarily adults with conditions such as respiratory illnesses, stroke, neurological disorders (e.g., seizures, Multiple Sclerosis), gastrointestinal illness, diabetes management, renal failure, urinary tract disorders, sepsis, wound care, clotting disorders, infectious diseases, and acute alcohol withdrawal
• Weekend/Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• On-call/Call-back: Eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours; low census may reduce shift hours in increments (4 or 8 hours) without being considered on-call

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) License
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; Trauma Level II experience highly preferred
• EPIC charting experience required

• Scrub color: Any color allowed
• Flu season policy: Travelers declining flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times per facility policy; non-compliance may result in corrective action
• Guaranteed hours exclude orientation week and holidays when the unit is closed
