Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Medical-Surgical (Travel)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour nights (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (48 hours accepted upon request)
• Overtime: Applies after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts
• Float Requirement:

  • First to float within skillset
  • Possible float to nearby campuses (8-11 miles away) with 2-hour notice
  • Mid-shift float within same campus; cross-campus mid-shift float unlikely but possible
• Weekend/Holiday Requirement:

  • Work three weekends every six weeks
  • Every other holiday
• On Call/Call Back: Not required
• Patient Population: Medical-Surgical patients including post-surgical, UTI, sepsis, high fall risk, COPD, CHF
• Unit Info:

  • 41 beds
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:6-7
  • Experienced leadership and CNA support
• Additional Notes:

  • Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires
  • No competing health system or agency logos on scrubs
  • Three call-ins can result in termination
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required (subject to change)

Required Qualifications

• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of strong Medical-Surgical nursing experience
  • At least 1 prior travel assignment required
  • Trauma Level II experience
• Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current active compact RN license
  • AHA BLS certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Skills:

  • Recent EPIC charting experience (checkoff class required)
  • Proficient in remote telemetry, chest tubes, NG/PEG tubes, straight catheter/Foley catheters, ostomies, Heparin drips, blood/blood product administration, tracheostomy care, PCA management
  • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage change well, resilient, and hardworking
  • Social and team-oriented
