Step Down Unit Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Evansville, Indiana.
• Primary location: Midtown.
• 13-week contract.
• Clinical interview required.
• No local candidates within a 40-mile radius.

Schedule

• 12-hour day shift: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM.
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week; may accept 48-hour contracts upon request.
• Three weekends out of every six-week schedule.
• Every other holiday.
• Bi-weekly orientation.

Required Qualifications

• Current active compact license.
• AHA BLS.
• AHA ACLS.
• NIHSS.
• 2 years RN experience.
• 1 full year stepdown experience.
• 1 travel assignment.
• Trauma level II experience.
• Recent EPIC experience.
• Must pass tele tests.
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.

Unit Details

• Step Down Unit with 22 beds.
• Patient population includes cardiac post-procedure patients, arrhythmias, CVA, detox/CIWA, sepsis, DKA, respiratory distress, and feeding tubes.
• Skills include Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation, post heart cath care, initiating/titrating drips, NIHSS/dysphagia screening, strong neuro assessments, sepsis care, chest tubes, CPAP/Optiflow, and PIV insertion.

Float Scope

• First to float within skillset.
• May float to Deaconess Newburgh campus and potentially to Deaconess Henderson.
• Mid-shift float within the same campus may occur.
• Cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible.

Additional Notes

• Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires.
• Navy blue scrubs required; no competing health systems or agency logos.
• 3 call-ins can result in termination.
• COVID-19 vaccine not required, subject to change.
