MRI Technologist (Weekend) - Urbana, Illinois

Job Summary

The MRI Technologist performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures using various imaging equipment and contrast materials. Responsibilities include preparing and administering gadolinium-based contrast material according to policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI procedures and assigned invasive procedures, including multi-planar reformats and 3D rendered images.
  • Review patient data for accuracy, quality, and completeness.
  • Ensure patient, visitor, and environmental safety; report safety events immediately.
  • May perform duties of MRI Lead or Imaging Coordinator in their absence.
  • Meet productivity levels as established by department benchmarks.
  • Assist other areas during downtimes to maintain productivity.
  • Perform duties of other modalities within the department if licensed/certified.
  • Administer IV gadolinium-based contrast via existing IV line or by performing veni-puncture and IV placement.
  • Recognize and respond to adverse or allergic reactions to contrast.
  • Review radiology orders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Review patient history and clinical data for medical necessity; acquire additional information as needed.
  • Transfer and verify image data in PACS; provide necessary medical history for radiologist interpretation.
  • Utilize RIS for scheduling, billing, and coding.
  • Use web server/EA viewer and email system to send exams for preliminary readings after hours.
  • Maintain imaging equipment and workplace environment, including supply inventories.
  • Recognize and report equipment malfunctions and service needs.
  • Assist in instruction of students and new staff as necessary.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Education

  • Associate's Degree in a related field
    OR
  • Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • Certified MRI Technologist OR Registered in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) through ARMRIT or ARRT
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA
