MRI Technologist (Weekend) - Urbana, Illinois

Job Summary

The MRI Technologist performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures using various imaging equipment and contrast materials. Responsibilities include preparing and administering gadolinium-based contrast material according to policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Perform MRI procedures and assigned invasive procedures, including multi-planar reformats and 3D rendered images.
Review patient data for accuracy, quality, and completeness.
Ensure patient, visitor, and environmental safety; report safety events immediately.
May perform duties of MRI Lead or Imaging Coordinator in their absence.
Meet productivity levels as established by department benchmarks.
Assist other areas during downtimes to maintain productivity.
Perform duties of other modalities within the department if licensed/certified.
Administer IV gadolinium-based contrast via existing IV line or by performing veni-puncture and IV placement.
Recognize and respond to adverse or allergic reactions to contrast.
Review radiology orders for completeness and accuracy.
Review patient history and clinical data for medical necessity; acquire additional information as needed.
Transfer and verify image data in PACS; provide necessary medical history for radiologist interpretation.
Utilize RIS for scheduling, billing, and coding.
Use web server/EA viewer and email system to send exams for preliminary readings after hours.
Maintain imaging equipment and workplace environment, including supply inventories.
Recognize and report equipment malfunctions and service needs.
Assist in instruction of students and new staff as necessary.

Required Education

Associate's Degree in a related field
OR
Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology

Required Certifications & Licensure

Certified MRI Technologist OR Registered in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) through ARMRIT or ARRT
BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA
