Cardiovascular Radiology Technologist (Cincinnati, Ohio)
Job Summary
Provide continuous, comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients undergoing invasive cardiology and peripheral angiography procedures. Perform angiographic procedures and invasive vascular treatments with a focus on optimal image quality and patient safety. Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure high standards of care and patient education.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients’ signs, symptoms, and physiological data; report abnormalities to physicians and charge nurses.
- Communicate patient information effectively during handoffs with healthcare team members.
- Evaluate patient, family, and environment for safety risks and implement safety initiatives.
- Provide individualized patient and family education in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Respond skillfully and promptly to emergency situations.
- Maintain sterile technique as a scrub assistant during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Set up sterile trays and specialized equipment for procedures.
- Manage post-procedure vessel hemostasis using compression or closure devices.
- Monitor and manage insertion sites, recognizing and addressing potential complications.
- Maintain competency in arterial and venous sheath removal and groin management.
- Adhere to radiation safety policies, including use of protective equipment and proper screening of females of childbearing age.
- Wear and manage radiation dosimetry badges according to protocol.
Required Skills & Experience
- 2 years of experience in cardiovascular radiology technology (higher end of 1-2 years range).
- Strong understanding of cardiovascular and peripheral anatomy.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Professionalism and ability to build positive relationships with patients, staff, and physicians.
- Participation in on-call coverage as required.
Education & Certifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiological Technology.
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
- Valid Ohio Radiologic License.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association, to be obtained within one year of hire.
